Friends,

This is my FIRST thread. To introduce myself, i am Subramanya from Bangalore. I am a Bike lover ( i own a car too but i prefer Bike always). I have been following some of the communities about bikes and found xkmph as a good one. So i am here. Yesterday i went and booked Suzuki GS150 R, that would be my 14th bike till date. Just to share with you all, I was the owner of 2 Bullet 500CC, 3 Bullet 350CC, 2 Apache 150, 1 Apache RTR, 1 Yamaha 135, 1 Yamaha 135 5 Speed and 2 Bajaj CT 100 and 1 Hero Honda Hunk. Now in few days i will get Suzuki. Presently my 350 Bullet is used by my Bro. So i consider that bike as his bike. My Bro and I are the die hard fans of BULLET. He is Loyal to one bike but i usually want to explore different bikes. Apart from Unicorn and Pulsar i had most of the bikes.

Story starts when i saw the name of GS 150 R's name in 150 CC bikes. Found the details are good. Then i started exploring it a bit. Got to know too many good reviews over many blogs/communities. So decided to buy one. My Fiancée doesn't like Bullets ( I DONT MIND) and she chose Blue colour GS. (i always prefer Black which my mother and fiancée consider as ASHUBH  ) . The problem is second hand two wheeler dealers in Bangalore says the model is not hit so do not buy. Cousin gave almost the same opinion. But i had decided that i will go for this and booked it.

Happy to be a part of this community. As i owned too many diff bikes ( doenst mean i have vast knowledge about those  ) i will try to put my words for others too. Will keep you posted about the progress of the bike.

For BULLET Fans : Kindly let me know if you have to share anything about your Bullet, i have little knowledge about this one Bike and i can be of little help for you.

Subramanya ( Bullet 500)

First let me understand (digest) your point.... You ride Monster? !!! Heaviest bike in the world !!!

About bullet, i am 5.10 and 60 Kgs. I had 2 500cc Bullets which are considered as one of the most heavy bikes in India. So weight doesn't matter at all to ride Bullet. Pls go ahead and buy one. Latest Bullets are coming with right side Break and left side Gear which will not confuse you :-)

Good to c another bullet fan in forum. I have got a Mach500LB. Yeah, it's the aluminium engine one. Performance is awesome.
I wish I could have had Iron Cast engine in the same model. The new classic 500 with EFI engine is awesome. It costs you 1.40 L. But the output is amazing. Its a beauty. There is no other 500cc Bullet available now. They stopped Mach500.

Planning to take it to B'lore next month. My elder brother stays there. He rides a Thunderbird. We will get back together to Mumbai on our own bikes in the same week.

By the way, how many of those 13 bikes you still have with you? Whats your current garage?

Hi Rahul,

Nice to meet you.... yes both my 500 were Iron cast engine bikes. The only concern i have about the present 500 is they come with right side break and left gear. Aluminum engine gives you good pick up, good mileage but less THUMP. But performance will be good. Ask your brother to get 500 STD for you from Bangalore

Also, i mentioned in my post i was the owner of those bikes :-) Each bike was there with me for almost an year. For 2010 i am going to get GS 150 R from Suzuki but planning to buy 500 Std again.

hey Subramanya, welcome to xkmph.com

by going through your intro, it seems you have a good experience with most of the Indian bikes.

Lasty you opted for GS150R. is there any specific reason behind. I know its a good bike with smooth engine but apart from that any other.

No Sir, i was going through the reviews of different 150cc bikes in different communities and found this bike there. First of all the bike is been given very good review but i dont see that bike in Bangalore at all !!!!!!!!!! After being very curious i read articles and reviews about this particular bike in many communities and didnt find even 1 person quoting one major problem. Then decided to buy one to see why the bike is not to be seen on street often. Looks like Suzuki is not keen to make this bike popular as they hardly give advertize about this Bike. Bullet is in my Soul (we usually say this is to our Girl friends). But i do like and respect other bikes.

Likewise i never heard even one singe negative comment about Unicorn which would be my next bike for Next year.

Hope i am not mistaken about this bike. :-)

Yeah, I can get a second hand 500 Std. But I tend to use a single bike till the bike doesn't die completely. My CBZ is now 10 years old and completely dead. Its running but can't ride for long without a break-down. but still in my garage. So I bought this Mach500. Now I won't sell it till its running. And a bullet will last you for life time, isn't it?

I don't like changing my vahicle for a better/different one. I get attached to the bike I ride and it's painful to part with it. (Girls will fall for this philosophy Grin). But i'll definitely love to try my hands on Iron Cast 500. Need to ride it once to see the difference and feel the ol' time's Legend.

One (happy) sad news is, your Bullet will never die. So you can not go for other bike. We still see 1960s and 1970s Bullets on Road still roaring. So what you can do is, after few years, without selling present bike you can buy another one. Checkout my photos, at once i had 3 Bullets in my Garage. 2 Std 350 and 2 Std 500 :-)

Friends !!! at last i got my GS 150 R today..... Blue colour bike... Below are my first day experience :-)

My house is 7 Kms away from the showroom. By the time i reached home, bike switched off 3 times due to petrol flow issue. Every time i used to open the tank cap and bike would start again. Very irritating. Ok, i reached home, went to the temple with mother and got the pooja done for the new bike. Now, i wanted to go for a short ride. Bike is good. Can not use Awesome, extraordinary or superb on the first day. As all said i also say the same that gears are really smooth. Bike is little heavy, but very nice looking. At ECO mode 4500 RPM is the cutoff point beyond which the warning light starts blinking. So at 4500 RPM in 6th Gear the bike reaches a constant speed of 60. ( imagining  i riding the bike at 9000 RPM and what would be the speed !!!! ). Found difficult to maintain the bike below 4500 RPM to avoid the light. Need to wait till the bike crosses 1000 KM mark on Odo to increase the throttle. Headlight is good. Not that bad as few quoted. But the petrol flow issue made me really angry. Showroom person asked me to take the bike to him for correction. Any one knows what is the problem here?

Overall i am happy with the bike. On highway i was feeling like i am sitting in the Volvo bus as i was feeling that level comfort due to nice suspension work done.

Will keep you posted about rest tomorrow :-)

Thanks... Bike is really good. I had a short distance drive of 150 Kms today with max speed maintained at 60 KMPH. I took the bike to the showroom and the mechanic there said a pipe connected to the petrol tank for air circulation was bent blocking the air. Now the problem is solved. also, i got 10 Lts petrol filled yesterday while taking bike from showroom but now the meter shows one point !!!!!!! have decided not to bother about mileage till the bike crosses 1000 KM mark. Any advise on this regard pls
