Hi

I have caught the long distance ride mania (Bike)  Roll Eyes

I have a TVS Victor GL bike  which has clocked around 30,000 km

I have also done a few solo 100 km runs oneway

Now I plan to do longer runs

Can someone guide me , what all things do I need to check and carry with me from a bike's point of view during long runs.

and what things I am likely to face during such trips

Ps: Is it a good thing to fit my TVS Victor with thicker tyres ?

thanks

Additionally.. if you have decided the place, try google to find out about the gas station, town for small halts/food etc.  Basic tool kit should be part of it.
General check with the local mechanic on the wheel wobbling, clutch wiring and tyre conditions would be wise.

Hi all,
It’s better to not to do any modification with your bike before starting a long trip.
For tyres I’ll say, change both if it’s not in a good condition.

Carry some Chocolates as it could give you tremendous amount of energy when you feel tired.

Carry a light weight Balaclava; it’s very helpful for riding in Indian weather.

First Aid must contain Some Antiseptic, some Betadine or any antiseptic containing Povidone-iodine to stop excess bleeding, Bandage and some Cotton. You may always carry some Adhesive Bandages (like Band Aid) in your wallet.

Always keep some water in stock for first aid purpose or simply to wash your eyes if required. Rather, some Eye Wash solution will be better because it weights like nothing with 10 ml, but is a very effective antiseptic too.

Wind during nights become colder and it could cause a nose blockage (Nasal Congestion), which is very irritating and further it could brings tear in our eyes. That makes a bit difficult to enjoy the riding. For that we may use some inhalers or anti-congestion nasal drops for that time (It takes to time to be addicted with anti-congestion nasal drops, better you ask any physician before using).

All of these will weight hardly 100 - 150 gm but could be very helpful. At least you’ll feel more relaxed as you will be prepared.
