One Wheel Ride 2010 (Kurseong) - The Motorcycle Stunt ShowThese bikes do not have a headlamp (some of them have small torch like fitments though), they have an awkward looking iron bar extending from the rear seat, they are generally covered with thousands of stickers and paintjob, they tend to sound like the loudest factories in the locality, though they are registered as two wheelers the riders prefer to go on as “ONE WHEEL RIDE”.
Xkmph.com an exponentially growing Biking community of India organized its 2nd Annual Motorcycle Stunt show in Kurseong (West Bengal) in December 26th, 2010. After a very successful show in Darjeeling in 2009, it was time for the sequel to hit the hills of West Bengal. The “One Wheel Ride” is one of the most awaited stunt shows in the hills of West Bengal & Sikkim. It receives a huge gathering from the neighboring hill cities of Sikkim, Bhutan & Nepal; and just like its maiden year even this time we had a mass attendance of over 4500 people to view this enormous event. The show took place in a bound arena of the Kurseong Bus Terminus.

The show had some of the finest stunters participating from Kurseong, in the form of Wang, Rohin, Prawesh, Ananta, Kunal. They were the representatives of the Kurseong xKmph stunting community. The team performed some excellent stunts and tricks that were cheerfully accepted by the crowd. The major attraction of the show turned out to be the official stunters of xKmph- Milan Pradhan & Monu. The duo kept the audience on their feet as they rallied on with breathtaking stunts one after the other. Wheelies, stoppies, rolling stoppies, one hander stoppies, high chairs, human compass, and donuts seemed like cakewalk for the duo. Milan kept the crowd cheerful with his amazingly refined stunts whereas Monu’s unconventional and creativity made the show interesting. The crowd was brought alive when the two started performing in tandem; Human Compasses & suicidal burnouts were happening side-by-side. The jaw dropping performance of the two invigorated the audience and we saw numerous ladies volunteering to be pillions to Milan’s & Monu’s daring act.

With proper gears and protection we had a super fun session of volunteers to ride as the stunters’ pillion as they performed Stoppies & Wheelies. Both of them used several bikes from different makers and performed some adventurous stunts even with multiple pillions. Monu showed us his tremendous command over a bike by pulling of Stoppies with two pillions. On the other hand Milan was the lady’s man, as more and more ladies from the audience wanted to experience the stunts being his pillion. Surely some envious moments for the audience but hats off to the daring souls who trusted our stunters.

One of the additions to this year’s show was the inclusion of ‘daCyclist.com‘ members. Dacyclist.com was launched in mid 2010 as a sister community of xKmph.com. It is aimed at bringing a greener lifestyle into existence by promoting the use of bicycles. Since its inception it has had some very active offline participants and also some minor events. The One Wheel Ride was a huge opportunity to showcase the hidden talents of this community. Three cyclists from the dacyclist.com cycling community performed besides our biking artists and we are proud to say that these school going kids can easily be called the ‘brightest Stars’ of the show. Dhiraj, Rana & Sunny performed everything that our bikers had performed on the motored variant with their muscle power and we must admit they were flawless. They carried the message to ride green and ride adventurous and made a huge impact on the crowd.

The message that everyone carries at xKmph is quite harmonious, be it Stunters, Tourers or even Pillions- “Ride Hard Ride Safe & always wear Helmet”. This show too was aimed at promoting the cause for safe stunting and use of safety. The volunteers at the show were very active in reminding the audience about their responsibilities on the road and adhering to proper driving norms. Riding a bike at xKmph is always promoted as a form of art & passion rather than a mode of transport.
