Yamaha India is ready to make the Indian Biking scene more Hot with its new Bike getting ready for launch. Displayed at the Expo 2008 the bike looks more challenging. 150 cc and priced around Rs. 90,000  makes it more demanding in the market.

According to the Yamaha guys present there, this bike should soon make it into the Indian Market soon...

The Yamaha YZF-R15 sports a Full Fairing with Twin Headlamps, has a "Delta" Frame and a "Water Cooled" Engine, a Monoshock Rear suspension and a 6-Speed gearbox. I am not quite sure whether the YZF-R15 features Fuel Injection.

The specs that a Yamaha guy standing at the Yamaha Pavilion at the Auto Expo told  the YZF-R15 was..

    * Engine Capacity: 150 cc

    * Maximum Power: 16 BHP

    * Price: Rs. 90,000

The Yamaha YZF-R15 when launched is without doubt going to be the Best Looking Bike in India. The YZF-R15 is laden with all the features that any desi biker could ask for.

My only concern would be that this beauty deserves at least a 180 cc engine and should belt out at least 18 BHP to do justice to it's sports bike looks. 16 BHP would actually be a little dissappionting.

Lets wait for the Official Confirmation for the engine capacity and the BHP figures. But I salute Yamaha for not resorting to another half hearted attempt. This time the YZF-R15 definitely looks like a genuine and honest attempt..!!

The total specification is not out officially. Its an estimate.

Buddy I get the info from sources which serve all people like press releases, blogs and websites etc. I dont have any special source or abilities to dig out information. Was there at the launch in Expo so that also helped a lot.

It was undoubtedly magnificient and gratifying for an automotive enthusiast's soul. I also met Rajiv Bajaj and clicked few pictures with him. A very down-to-earth and easily approachable man. Also met Adil Jal Darukhanawala. I was there on 10th, 11th and 12th as I was sent from my office for some work. All the three days were great and fun-filled.

Hi I am a BE Mech. student. I am sure the stock bike would be providing soft power.  Huh is it possible to change the program in the bike's EFI unit and increase the peak power of the engine, low and mid end power delivery....

 Grin I wonder if there is anyway to program the EFI unit...Just got excited reading about the bike at Yamaha India site...Can someone tell me what power does the bike produce...I found some o you telling it has 16bhp and some telling +20bhp...Take a look at it in http://www.yamaha-motor-india.com/Auto-Expo08/home.html

Dont forget to take a close look at the engine.. Cheesy it is quite bulkier than the muscle bike of India the hunk and CBZ...Seeing the construction of the power plant I feel it would produce around 25bhp to kill the Pulsars, CBZs and Apaches. Note that the Yamaha claims the engine to perform best at straights, and winding roads in suburbs...no claims of any city performance. So i suspect this bike would have its power band post mid rpm and dies at higher rpm. I cant wait until the FMSI would open the YZF-R15 class supporting the currently run Superbike class and see riders burning rubber at Irungatukttai and Kari speedway.....ZZZRRR....

Regarding the power the representative at the stall at the expo said it was 16bhp but it was earlier told as 20 bhp. the fact is that the bhp is not yet disclosed but this much is confirmed that the bike will be a real killer of the other Bikes in India.

The tech is good.
