Yamaha India is ready to make the Indian Biking scene more Hot with its new Bike getting ready for launch. Displayed at the Expo 2008 the bike looks more challenging. 150 cc and priced around Rs. 90,000  makes it more demanding in the market.

According to the Yamaha guys present there, this bike should soon make it into the Indian Market soon...

The Yamaha YZF-R15 sports a Full Fairing with Twin Headlamps, has a "Delta" Frame and a "Water Cooled" Engine, a Monoshock Rear suspension and a 6-Speed gearbox. I am not quite sure whether the YZF-R15 features Fuel Injection.

The specs that a Yamaha guy standing at the Yamaha Pavilion at the Auto Expo told  the YZF-R15 was..

    * Engine Capacity: 150 cc

    * Maximum Power: 16 BHP

    * Price: Rs. 90,000

The Yamaha YZF-R15 when launched is without doubt going to be the Best Looking Bike in India. The YZF-R15 is laden with all the features that any desi biker could ask for.

My only concern would be that this beauty deserves at least a 180 cc engine and should belt out at least 18 BHP to do justice to it's sports bike looks. 16 BHP would actually be a little dissappionting.

Lets wait for the Official Confirmation for the engine capacity and the BHP figures. But I salute Yamaha for not resorting to another half hearted attempt. This time the YZF-R15 definitely looks like a genuine and honest attempt..!!

The total specification is not out officially. Its an estimate.

this bikes a brkthrough for india. a new segment has been discovered. thanks to yamaha. and an interview with Sanjay Tripathi sir, Head-Product Planning, Yamaha Motor India, reveals the bike to churn 20 bhp. and its a straight competitor to 180cc and 200cc bike in india. point to be noted, is that he never uttered 'Pulsar' in the interview. but when an indian  biker comes across figures like 180 and 200, first thing that strikes is pulsar.  Wink price is yet to be decided. 90k is what the blogs claim. may be true or may be a rumor. i personally dont mind it being priced upto 1 lakh, for the yamaha technology and reliability and yes the stock design. the only thing that yamaha bikes have disappointed me these yrs is the stability at higher gears. later it was discovered that changing tyres can almost solve the prob. for this Sanjay sir has promised for the sticky tyres from MRF specially designed for this bike, so that it doesn't affect the fuel economy or stability.

The bike is currently on display in Delhi Yamaha Show room. One thing is that its a bit short in Height.

Atleast now we can overcome those pulsars and zma's. This bike gonna conquor their suprimacy.
But still the specs are really not clear. just wait for the official declaration. Though love this bike for its sporty looks.

the only specs that have been confirmed are that its gonna be a liquid cooled, 4 valve, 150 cc engine with a 6 speed gearbox

that was given on the yamaha india website itself - the bhp or torque figures were not quoted
