Yamaha India is ready to make the Indian Biking scene more Hot with its new Bike getting ready for launch. Displayed at the Expo 2008 the bike looks more challenging. 150 cc and priced around Rs. 90,000  makes it more demanding in the market.

According to the Yamaha guys present there, this bike should soon make it into the Indian Market soon...

The Yamaha YZF-R15 sports a Full Fairing with Twin Headlamps, has a "Delta" Frame and a "Water Cooled" Engine, a Monoshock Rear suspension and a 6-Speed gearbox. I am not quite sure whether the YZF-R15 features Fuel Injection.

The specs that a Yamaha guy standing at the Yamaha Pavilion at the Auto Expo told  the YZF-R15 was..

    * Engine Capacity: 150 cc

    * Maximum Power: 16 BHP

    * Price: Rs. 90,000

The Yamaha YZF-R15 when launched is without doubt going to be the Best Looking Bike in India. The YZF-R15 is laden with all the features that any desi biker could ask for.

My only concern would be that this beauty deserves at least a 180 cc engine and should belt out at least 18 BHP to do justice to it's sports bike looks. 16 BHP would actually be a little dissappionting.

Lets wait for the Official Confirmation for the engine capacity and the BHP figures. But I salute Yamaha for not resorting to another half hearted attempt. This time the YZF-R15 definitely looks like a genuine and honest attempt..!!

The total specification is not out officially. Its an estimate.

90k for a 150cc bike would be a dropdown though
but 16bhp on 150cc ...................is really good
NOTE:next time santanu try to get the girl's pic properly Wink

So turn back the throttle it might save your life,

Think of your family and what they will miss,
Your touch and your smile, the warmth of your kiss.

if i heard correctly from other online blogs - this bike has better pickup and top speed than even the pulsar 220

a six speed g'box would do wonders if the ratios are good

The price is justified as normally we buy bikes and modify them which comes to the same price but here its a original bike.

its true santanu. Buying a bike for 60000 and spending around 20-30K on it to replicate it for the design looks cheap. This should be a great hit.

but cc should be a bit more, atleast 180

i think the 150 cc engine with 16 horses and 6 speed g'box will do wonders

also, considering the technology yamaha is working with - i'm sure the 150 cc will be able to hit speeds of 140+

totally agree with that

the best way to wreck a 4 stroke engine is to try and modify the engine

first things first...the bike wont cost 90k it will be costlier. The Yamaha guy who told this either might be a jerk or must not be knowing anything. Secondly the bike will develop a healthy 20 odd bhp or maybe even more. six-speed transmission, Electronic fuel injection, water cooled, power cylinders, deltabox frame and 90k. Isnt it like wanting a Beemer to come at the price of a Skoda. The high-end parts will not be manufactured in India and will be imported so that would only add to the price. Even Honda will soon bring its 150-200 cc bikes so Yamaha is not dumb enough to launch a 16 bhp bike. HH Xtreme without any frills belts out 14+bhp so if the output is just 16 then it would be like Yam is telling the world that "hey our tech is just all show and no go" and we all certainly know that Yamaha is all go and lotsa show.

For starters, the bike will be nearly 21bhp and weigh a lot lesser then the ZMAs and the Pulsars so it will basically thrash any and every Indian bike except the legendary RD350. Top end will suffocate at nearly 140kph. Purchasing this bike will lighten your bank accounts by a little more han a Lakh rupees.
