 INDO BHUTAN FRIENDSHIP CAR RALLY

I had the chance to participate in the first ever Indo - Bhutan Friendship Car Rally. The rally started on the 10th of February from Kolkata, West Bengal and ended on the 15th of February at Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan.

It was a fun filled trip with serious competition. All the participants were very friendly and since we were presenting our cultures and country, every1 was at its best.

The rally was covered in Ten Sports and BBS (Bhutan Broadcasting Service).

The driving was awesome with the rally taking us into some of the most excusive locations of Dooars. We entered into wildlife sanctuaries, tea gardens, army contentment. The drive to Thimphu was great with the picturesque scenery and the cold breeze. All along the crowd was cheering and applauding us.

We also attended the cultural programme hosted by us at different locations. Had the chance to make some very good friends in this tour.

I will always remember this tour.

i think it'll be the best tour for xkmph till date if we can do this bhutan tour

do u think we will require special permits and stuff to take our motorcycles over the border?

if so, u think there will be much trouble over this issue?

hey guyz it will be really intresting if we can do a bhutan tour...

i ll arrange for the permit and stuff....

you just require 2 passport size photograps and a xeroxcopy of your voter identity card or passport.

it is a very beautiful country with breathtaking scenery.

xkmph will also get its name as this will be its first international rally for us.

siliguri to thimpu - what will be the average distance, altitude, road condition

Siliguri to thimphu is 170 kms. abd can be covered in da same day as the roads are pretty good. I would say we can make the programme as: -

Day 1: Start from Siliguri and reach Phuentsholing - Indo Bhutan Border, via dooars.
Day 2: Phuentsholing to Thimphu or we can halt at Chukha da midway.
Day 3: Chukha to Thimphu or Thimphu to Paro.
Day 4: Paro to Phuentsholing.
Day 5: Procced back to Siliguri.

The expense is for fuel and we get nice double bed room for say INR 500.00, and fooding cost is say same as Siliguri.

it will be great fun, we should atlest have five bikes.

thats a pretty short distance

i'm sure we will be able to do this trip

i will talk to the other members here and see what they say

also the budget doesn't seem very high

i guess the road out to bhutan is almost all plains?

nope da roads in bhutan are all hills....with a average turns of 22 -25 per kilometre...but den da roads are safe. we just have to ride slow...

well i hope we are able to make diz 1 international trip..
